Backpacks and Charity Apps: Appcelerator in the Community

Last week Appcelerator’s Mountain View headquarters partnered with the Family Giving Tree in a backpack drive to support low-income students around the Bay Area.  AppC employees took some time out of their work day to fill 200 hundred backpacks with necessary school supplies for students in grades K-12.  The Family Giving Tree serves seven counties in the Bay Area, and Appcelerator was able to contribute to their goal of equipping 15,000 at-risk students with backpacks just in time for back-to-school.

Appcelerator announced today that The Michael J. Fox Foundation is the latest charity to benefit from the upcoming "Hack to Help" all-night Hackathon. The Hackathon is part of Appcelerator's CODESTRONG 2012 Mobile Conference, with the goal of helping charities accelerate their fundraising efforts by tapping into the power of mobile apps. "It's hard to think of a better secret weapon than 500 hackers on your side," said Michael J. Fox. "We're grateful to Appcelerator's Hack to Help for choosing The Michael J. Fox Foundation to benefit from this event."
